San Antonio Spurs vs. Minnesota Timberwolves: Keys to Game and Prediction

The San Antonio Spurs (24-5) take on the Minnesota Timberwolves (11-17) on Wednesday night in what should be an exciting game at the Target Center. The game is scheduled to tip off at 8:00pm ET and will be televised on FSSW.
The Spurs are coming off an impressive 106-92 win against the Indiana Pacers on Monday night. Kawhi Leonard led the Spurs with 24 points, six rebounds, and five assists.
The Timberwolves lost 113-99 against the Boston Celtics on Monday night. Karl-Anthony Towns finished with 25 points and 16 rebounds, and Andrew Wiggins went for 26 points.
San Antonio is looking to extend their six-game win streak.
What are the keys to a San Antonio Spurs victory against Minnesota?
-Contain Andrew Wiggins
Kawhi Leonard is arguably the best defender in the league. On Monday night Leonard shut down MVP-candidate Paul George to seven points on 1-of-14 shooting. George is averaging 25.5 points on the season, yet he looked uncomfortable against Leonard all night.
-Control pace
The Minnesota Timberwolves want to run, that’s clear. With the exception of older players, Kevin Garnett and Andre Miller, mostly all Timberwolves love to run. Wiggins and Zach LaVine are two of the best athletes in the league. LaVine has had success against San Antonio before, so they must be careful. As a rookie last season LaVine averaging 16.5 points and 5.8 assists in four games against the Spurs.
-Feed LaMarcus Aldridge
The Timberwolves will likely throw Garnett on Aldridge. At this stage of Garnett’s career, this is simply a mismatch. Aldridge can have one of those monster games he was used to in Portland if they feed him in this game.
Prediction:
. 108. 29. 94. 86
The San Antonio Spurs have Leonard and Duncan to contain Minnesota’s best players Wiggins and Towns. LaVine will provide a big spark off the Timberwolves bench, but it won’t be enough. The Spurs will win this game convincingly.
