Spurs Player Grades vs. Washington: Kawhi Needs Help

By Michael Rehome

The San Antonio Spurs saw their three-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of Bradley Beal. Beal hit a three-point shot at the buzzer to sink the Spurs. The play before, Parker hit an improbable three which tied the game, 99-99.

This Wizards team is different. They showed the style of play they are looking to play — run and gun. Which is exactly what they did to San Antonio. Beal and John Wall combined for 42 points, 25 and 17 respectively.

Kawhi Leonard continues to be the best player on the Spurs as he finished with a team high, 23 points. With the loss, the Spurs now have two days off before their next game on Saturday against the Charlotte Hornets.

As we do after every game, here are the players grades from Wednesday nights 102-99 loss.

B. 17 points (6-11 FG), 4 assists, 2 rebounds, 3 turnovers — There were points during the game that many wondered what was going on. Parker, late in the fourth without control of the ball, went full head of steam towards the basket on a 2-on-1 and turned the ball over–Spurs were down by one. Then, with those mistakes Parker nailed a three-point bucket which tied the game. Parker played with a lot of spunk in the final quarter to put the Spurs in position to win.. PG. San Antonio Spurs. TONY PARKER

D+. 13 points (3-10 FG, 3-8 3PT), 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 turnovers — Seems as if the trend continues for <strong><a href=. SG. San Antonio Spurs. DANNY GREEN

23 points (10-23 FG), 9 rebounds — He was all over the place Wednesday night. Leonard was scoring, grabbing rebounds and also dove on the floor to grab a loose ball. He has the fire this season and is on a mission. Leonard had a chance to win the game for the Spurs as his mid-range jumper came off of the rim and his second attempt also fell short. Both shots were rushed by Leonard. Still, he is the only one that seems to be in a groove this season.. SF. San Antonio Spurs. KAWHI LEONARD. A

C. 10 points (4-14 FG), 14 rebounds, 5 turnovers — What really killed this team tonight was turnovers. Aldridge committed five. He is still struggling from the floor shooting. In the fourth quarter, out of a timeout, a play was drawn up for Aldridge. Spurs as they do, executed it to perfection. That was it. Aldridge got a good look, but the result is not what all fans expected. It was a shot that Aldridge has his throughout his career. Give it to him again and he would surely make a team pay.. PF. San Antonio Spurs. LAMARCUS ALDRIDGE

B. 8 points (3-8 FG), 12 rebounds, 5 assists — He continues to play a key role for San Antonio. Duncan though not known for his scoring did do all the little things to put the team in position to win. Grabbing 12 rebounds as well as dishing out five assists, Duncan is playing at a level many hope he would, despite his age.. C. San Antonio Spurs. TIM DUNCAN

29 points, 9 assists, 9 rebounds, 3 turnovers — The bench played a key role in this game. Led by their sixth man <strong><a href=. B. San Antonio Spurs. BENCH. B
