After being unable to represent Team USA during the last two summers, San Antonio Spurs small forward Kawhi Leonard is prepared to temporarily trade his black-and-silver uniform for a red, white and blue get-up.
According to Mike Monroe of the San Antonio Express-News, Leonard will attend the USA Basketball minicamp, which is slated to take place from Aug. 11-13 in Las Vegas.

Two years ago, Leonard skipped minicamp in order to recover from a left knee injury. Last summer, he opted to take a break during the summer.
Now healthy and rested, however, Leonard will join a squad full of offensive potential. Blake Griffin, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Harrison Barnes are among expected attendees for minicamp.
Consequently, Kawhi Leonard will likely return to a specialty role as a lockdown defender who can regularly contribute on the scoring end of the floor.
In 2014-15, Leonard earned the Defensive Player of the Year award and averaged career-best marks in nearly every major statistical category. He tallied 16.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and a league-leading 2.3 steals.
USA Basketball is preparing its roster for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Team USA has won five of the last six gold medals in the Olympics, including the last two in 2008 and 2012.
