Simmons finished the Vegas session averaging 17 points, four rebounds and three assists, and he’ll take a seat near Hammon on the bench with the regular San Antonio roster this season.
The former WNBA star will hold an impressive accolade when she rejoins Gregg Popovich. Hammon led the Spurs to a 6-1 record in Vegas, highlighted by a perfect 4-0 mark during tournament play. San Antonio toppled the Brooklyn Nets, Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks en route to the championship.
After a title in her first Summer League appearance, Becky Hammon not only broke a barrier, but she shattered a flawed notion that men are best prepared to coach a team of men.
It seems like only a matter of time before Hammon receives a promotion in the coaching ranks, which should be an exciting thought for every NBA fan.
