What to Look For From San Antonio Spurs In Summer League?

By George Middleton

The San Antonio Spurs are in the Utah Summer League. The Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, and Utah Jazz are also in the league. The league takes place between July 6-9. The Spurs are also in the Las Vegas Summer League. That league takes place between July 10-20. The league features 24 teams.

One can expect Kyle Anderson and Cady Lalanne to suit up. Treveon Graham, Will Cherry, Darion Atkins, and Shannon Scott will have a chance to make an NBA roster as well.

Has Kyle Anderson Developed?

Anderson is coming off a rookie year in which he averaged 2.2 points and 2.2 rebounds in 10.8 minutes. Last years 30th pick has a chance to be a good player. He is a terrific passer and is a solid rebounder. The real question is whether Anderson has improved his shooting. If Anderson improved his outside shooting, there is no question that he will have a role on the Spurs this season.

Will Treveon Graham impress?

The VCU wing was seen as a potential second rounder on a few mock drafts. Unfortunately Graham went

undrafted. Graham is a good shooter (38% threes). The best part of Graham’s game is his ability to rebound. He averaged 7 rebounds in each of his last two collegiate seasons. While Graham isn’t a big time athlete (31.5-inch vertical) he is incredibly long (6″10.5-wingspan), which will help him on the defensive end.

What Did The Spurs See In Cady Lalanne?

The Spurs surprised a few people when they took Cady Lalanne with the 55th pick. Lalanne is a good rebounder and can block some shots. The question is whether Lalanne can score at the next level. If Lalanne shows some life on offense, the 23-year old can be solid off the Spurs bench in the future.
