By George Middleton

Josh Richardson: 21-years old, Tennessee, Shooting Guard

Draft Express Measurements: 6″6, 6″10 wingspan, 200-pounds

2014-15 Stats: 16.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 0.5 blocks, 2.1 steals, 46% field goals, 80% free-throws, 36% threes, 36.3 minutes

Quick Season Review: The Tennessee Volunteers had a disappointing year last season, as they went 16-16 and missed the NCAA Tournament. Don’t blame Josh Richardson, who led the Volunteers in scoring and assists. The Volunteers had a few nice wins against Butler, Arkansas, Mississippi State, and LSU. Richardson’s best game of the season came against Mississippi State, when he finished with 30 points. He followed it up with 27 points against Vanderbilt eight days later. Richardson showed significant improvement in each season with the Volunteers.

Strengths: Legit two-guard size. Shooting range. Good passing wing. Terrific at creating turnovers. Good free-throw shooter. Terrific defender (SEC All-Defensive Team). Solid rebounder. Efficient scorer. Long wingspan. Good athlete with speed.

Weaknesses: Decision making must improve (2.7 to). Must add weight. Already peaked. Can work on getting separation from defender on dribble. Handle can use improvement.

Where He Would Help Spurs?

Josh Richardson is a terrific defender with shooting ability. He has the makings of a good role player, as he is an all-around talent.

NBA Comparison: Will Barton

Will Barton and Josh Richardson are similar players as they both possess terrific size and versatility for a wing. Richardson is a better shooter and defender, but Barton is a better slasher and rebounder.
