By George Middleton

Vince Hunter: 20-years old, UTEP, Small Forward/Power Forward

Draft Express Measurements: 6″7.5, 208-pounds, 6″11. wingspan

2014-15 Stats: 14.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.0 blocks, 1.2 steals, 53% field goals, 60% free-throws, 4-10 threes, 28.5 minutes

Quick Season Review: The UTEP Miners were one of the teams that were just left out of the NCAA Tournament, as they finished 22-11. Instead they played in the National Invitational Tournament, where they lost in the first round against Murray State. Hunter led the Miners in scoring, rebounds, and steals. Hunter was consistent for most part of the season. He had a few big games against a few top teams. Against Arizona, Hunter went for 18 points and 12 rebounds. Against tourney team UAB, he finished with 22 points and 9 rebounds in 24 minutes.

Strengths: Terrific athlete (37.5-inch vertical) with a motor. Terrific rebounder. Good at creating turnovers. Good at drawing fouls (6.3 attempts per game). Finishes at the rim. Unselfish player. Can defend both forward spots.

Weaknesses: Raw. Makes lots of mistakes (2.8 to). Bad free-throw shooter. Must improve shooting range if he wants to make impact. Must add weight. Offense a concern.

Where He Would Help Spurs?

Vince Hunter is a terrific athlete with excellent rebounding ability that should translate to the league. Hunter will bring instant energy off the Spurs bench.

NBA Comparison: Earl Clark

Vince Hunter is a few inches shorter than Earl Clark, but they have similar games. Both can rebound well and put the ball on the floor and go to the basket.
