Michael Frazier II: 21-years old, Florida, Shooting Guard

Draft Express Measurements (Draft Combine): 6″4.25, 199-pounds, 6″8 wingspan

2014-15 Stats: 12.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.1 blocks, 1.2 steals, 42% field goals, 87% free-throws, 38% threes, 29.2 minutes

Quick Season Review: The Florida Gators had their worst season since 1998, as they finished 16-17. The Gators didn’t make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2009. Michael Frazier like most Gators players was inconsistent at times. The junior guard finish second in the team in scoring and he led team in steals. After shooting 47 and 45% from three in his first two collegiate seasons, he shot a respectable 38% this year. Frazier’s best game came against Mississippi, when he finished with 27 points in a one point loss. He missed seven games with an ankle injury and struggled when he returned to end the season. In the final three games he averaged 3.3 points and shot 1-13 from three-point range.

Strengths: Terrific shooter that is usually consistent. Was shooting well above 40% from three before injury. NBA ready body. Solid athlete (35-inch vertical). Terrific free-throw shooter. Has a good IQ. Potential to be a solid defender with length. Moves well without the ball.

Weaknesses: Must work on finishing around basket. Must improve defensive consistency. Improve playmaking. Will he create his own offense at next level? Must get quicker. Ball-handling a work in progress.

Where He Would Help Spurs?

Michael Frazier II is a terrific shooter, one of the best in the draft. Drafting him would only make sense if the Spurs lose Danny Green or Marco Belinelli in free-agency. He doesn’t have much potential, but he will be at worst a good shooter off the bench.

NBA Comparison: Gary Neal

Frazier’s game is similar to ex-Spur Gary Neal. Both have similar build and size, and they are both terrific shooters. Neal is a career 38% three-point shooter and has been a key contributor off the bench on strong teams.
