San Antonio Spurs Season Review: Patty Mills

By George Middleton

Patty Mills had a rough season this year after signing a three year $12 million contract last summer. Mills missed 31 games with a shoulder injury. After a terrific season in 2013-14 it was expected for Mills to play a huge role on the Spurs this year. Mills averaged 10.2 points on 43% three-pointers in 19 minutes that season. This year he struggled to get in rhythm after coming back from the injury. What did Patty Mills do right and wrong this year? Find out below!

C-. Patty Mills role with the Spurs is to suffocate the opposing guard with his on ball defense and most importantly score off the bench. Mills averaged 6.9 points and 1.7 assists 15.7 minutes this season. The problem was that Mills wasn’t as efficient as one is accustomed to seeing him (38% field goals, 34% threes). Mills like his usual self did a good job of taking care of the ball, as he averaged 0.7 turnovers. It wasn’t all bad for Mills, as he stepped up in the postseason. He averaged 10.1 points and shot 57% from three.. PG. Offense. PATTY MILLS

C+. Patty Mills is a terrific on ball defender for the Spurs. He brings energy and can be a pest, as he loves defending the length of the court. The stats don’t tell the story for Mills on that end, as he averaged 0.5 steals. One area that Mills can improve in is rebounding (1.5 rpg). If Mills improves at off ball defense, he can be one of the better defending point guards in the league.. PG. Defense. PATTY MILLS

I believe if you ask Patty Mills how has season went, he will tell you that it was bad. Mills gets a solid “C” grade because of his production in the postseason. With <strong><a href=. PG. Overall. PATTY MILLS. C
