If there was ever series where both teams deserved to advance nearly equally it was this one, unfortunately that can happen. The Spurs lost a classic game 7 that included a countless number of lead changes.
The Spurs were in terrific position to win the series, as they were up two with just over a minute to play, but the Chris Paul made the big plays down the stretch for the Clippers.
Chris Paul made two clutch free-throws with 13 seconds to play before Tim Duncan made two himself five seconds later. The game was tied with under 8 seconds to play, when Chris Paul drove in for a difficult runner leaving the Spurs only 1 second. The Spurs attempted a desperate alley-oop to Kawhi Leonard that wasn’t on target giving the Clippers the win.
When the Spurs were up 3-2 in the series going to San Antonio many people wrote the Clippers off with reason. But the Clippers showed what they were made of when they won game six on the road.
A Chris Paul three at the end of the third quarter proved to be huge in a game that was tight the whole way.
Both teams were incredibly efficient, but the Clippers had an edge as they shot 53% and the Spurs shot 48%.
Tim Duncan went for 27 points and 11 rebounds, Tony Parker added 20 points and 5 assists. Both players stepped up as Kawhi Leonard was quiet with 13 points.
Blake Griffin finished with 24 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists. Paul added 27 points and 6 assists.
