San Antonio Spurs Player Grades in Win Over Boston Celtics

By Jay Desai

The San Antonio Spurs picked up their second straight win on Friday night following a 101-89 home victory over the Boston Celtics.

The Spurs, who led by as many as 26 points, used tight defense, forcing the Celtics to shoot below 40%, to help claim the win.

Kawhi Leonard was once again the catalyst of the San Antonio offense, racking up 22 points, seven rebounds, and three steals. Tiago Splitter also played well, 18 points and six rebounds in only 25 minutes.

While the Spurs received many solid performances, the same could not be said about the Celtics. Boston’s best player of the night, Evan Turner, scored 17 along four assists but committed four turnovers and four fouls.

Now that the game is over, we have post-game grades for key Spurs players in the San Antonio Boston game!

SG. San Antonio Spurs. DANNY GREEN. B. <strong><a href=

SF. San Antonio Spurs. KAWHI LEONARD. B+. Kawhi Leonard has really come into his own over the last few games for the Spurs. That star ability was even more present Friday night against the Celtics. Leonard made an impact on both sides of the ball, contributing 22 points, seven rebounds, and three steals in the win. While it would have been nice to see Leonard contain Evan Turner a bit more, Turner had 17 points and four assists, his ability to set the pace for his team was extremely important and something that cannot be quantified. Spurs fans have been waiting for Leonard’s breakthrough in the regular season and it looks like it’s finally here.

San Antonio Spurs. TIM DUNCAN. B+. <strong><a href=. PF

Tiago Splitter had one his best games of the season Friday night against Boston. After hovering around the single digits for scoring for much of the season, Splitter had a breakout game going for a season-high 18 points in only 25 minutes. The Brazilian big man did not just stop there though. He also played well in other areas, evident by his six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. If Splitter plays like this a bit more during the final stretch of this season and the playoffs, this Spurs team could be dangerous to match-up with.. C. San Antonio Spurs. TIAGO SPLITTER. A+

The San Antonio Spurs bench really struggled against the Boston Celtics. The reserves, who normally score well, only combined for 26 points. Even worse, those 26 points came on a poor 10-of-34 shooting. <strong><a href=. . . SAN ANTONIO SPURS BENCH. D
