The San Antonio Spurs lost for only the second time this season to an Eastern Conference opponent on Tuesday night, falling to the Detroit Pistons 105-104 at home.

The Spurs were shocked by the Pistons at the buzzer as Detroit scored on their final possession to defeat San Antonio by way of a Brandon Jennings layup.

San Antonio ed by as many as 18 in the first half but was unable to contain a huge second half surge from Detroit, ultimately leading to a loss for the Spurs.

Jennings, who hit the buzzer beater for the Pistons, was one of six Detroit players in double figures scoring, finishing the game with 13 points. The Pistons also got a huge helping from Andre Drummond who contributed 20 points and 17 rebounds.

San Antonio’s attack was spearheaded by six Spurs who scored in double figures. The leader of that group was Jeff Ayres, who came off the bench to produce a career high 16 points.

SAN ANTONIO SPURS BENCH. B+. The San Antonio Spurs bench provided an outstanding 51 points in Tuesday night’s loss to the Pistons. Jeff Ayres was the leader of the reserves scoring a career high 16 points off the bench. However, as good as the offense was, the defense was equally as bad. The Spurs second unit, nor San Antonio’s first unit for that matter, could contain Detroit’s scorers, allowing six Pistons to finish in double figures. It’s nice to see you team finish with that many guys in double figures, but when it’s the other team, you’re going to have a tough time winning games.. .
