By George Middleton

The San Antonio Spurs take on the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday night at the American Airlines Center.

The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT and will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest. The game can also be heard on the radio on WOAI 1200 AM.

The Mavericks just landed a big fish in Rajon Rondo, as they traded Jameer Nelson, Jae Crowder, Brandan Wright and two draft picks for him. The four time all-star is averaging 8.3 points, 7.5 rebounds and 10.8 assists this season.

This is the second matchup between the two teams. The Spurs won the first matchup on opening night 101-100 in San Antonio.

How will the Spurs fare against the Mavericks? We take a look at recent history, injuries, and key players to predict the outcome of the game!

San Antonio Spurs

The Spurs are 17-10 overall and 9-6 on the road. They have lost three straight games and the last two have been lost in triple overtime. The Spurs lost 129-119 to the Portland Trail Blazers last night. Tim Duncan led the Spurs with 32 points and 10 rebounds. The Spurs are the first team since the 1951 Baltimore Bullets to play in consecutive 3-OT games.

Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks are 19-8 overall and 9-4 at home. They have won two straight games. On Wednesday they beat the Detroit Pistons 117-106. Chandler Parsons led the Mavericks with 32 points and 7 rebounds.

Players to Watch For Dallas Mavericks

Chandler Parsons- With Kawhi Leonard out for the Spurs, one can expect a big night from Chandler Parsons. Parsons is starting to heat up, as he is averaging 21.4 points in his last 10 games.

Rajon Rondo- Rajon Rondo will make his season debut for the Mavericks tonight, as he was traded from Boston on Thursday. Rondo is one of the leagues best defender and can break out for a triple double on any given night. Cory Joseph will have his hands full tonight.

Monta Ellis– Everyone knows about Dirk Nowitzki, so I went with the Mavericks leading scorer Monta Ellis. Ellis is averaging 20.6 points and 4.7 assists this season. Ellis went for 26 points and 6 assists in the first meeting between the two teams.

With the Spurs best four players sitting this game out and Rondo making his debut in Dallas, I expect the Mavericks to win easily. The Spurs are also playing a second game of a back-to-back set against a strong Dallas team that will be fired up to avenge their one point loss against the Spurs from opening night.
