Highlights: San Antonio Spurs at Memphis Grizzlies

By Jay Desai

The San Antonio Spurs ended their four game road trip with a win on Friday night, defeating the Memphis Grizzlies 107-101.

The Spurs were able to claim the victory thanks to a strong first half in which the team outscored the Grizzlies 58-46. Memphis had a nice comeback effort in the second half, closing the gap to four points at one time, but were unable to pick up the win.

While the win against one of the NBA’s best teams was great news for San Antonio, the team was also hit with some bad news. The injury bug once again fell on the Spurs as San Antonio lost Tony Parker during the game to a mild hamstring injury.

Although the Parker injury somewhat dulled the mood for the Spurs, strong performances by the rest of San Antonio’s big three allowed those issues to be muted for the time being.

Tim Duncan was fantastic for the Spurs, recording his fourth career triple-double, 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. Manu Ginobili also had a good night, hitting five three’s and a two-pointer to give him 17 points for the game along with six rebounds and seven assists.

Marc Gasol and Mike Conley were the highlights for the Grizzlies. Both players finished with a double-double, 28 points and 12 rebounds for Gasol and 23 points and 10 assists for Conley. Gasol also recorded four blocks, adding to his impressive night.
