The San Antonio Spurs defeated the Atlanta Hawks 94-92 in a closely contested game last night.
The Spurs started out the game strong, taking a 12 point lead at the end of the first quarter. However, it was all Atlanta after that point as the Hawks outscored San Antonio 77-67 through the final three quarters.
Atlanta even had a chance to tie the game and send it into overtime or win it in the final seconds as the Hawks had the last possession. The San Antonio Spurs defense stayed strong though, forcing the Hawks to shoot a desperation three at the buzzer from close to half-court.
Tony Parker and Tim Duncan were the stars for the San Antonio Spurs in this game. Parker scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Duncan had a night to remember finishing with a final line of 17-13-4-3-6 (points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks). The Big Fundamental’s performance was so great in fact, it was actually the first time that stat line has been posted by player 35 or older since at least 1985-1986.
