Gregg Popovich: Kawhi Leonard Probable for Friday at Phoenix Suns

By Jay Desai

Kawhi Leonard is listed as probable for Friday’s game at the Phoenix Suns according to San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich. Leonard has missed the last three weeks while nursing an eye infection.

The former San Diego State University star only played in the Spurs first season game due to the injury.

Pop said Leonard was cleared to play tonight, but gave him some extra time just in case. “I’m guessing he’s probable for Friday (at Phx).”

When asked about Leonard’s status for Friday’s game in the Arizona desert following the Spurs 101-100 win against the Mavericks, this is what Pop had to say (via Dan McCarney MySanAntonio):

“Don’t take this to the bank, but I’m guessing [Kawhi Leonard] is probable for Friday. Tiago and Mills will be out, but Kawhi might be back. We have two days to practice and get him out on the floor. We want to make sure he doesn’t infect anyone else.”

Gregg Popovich did say that Kawhi was cleared for opening night against the Dallas Mavericks, meaning Leonard was healthy and he was just held out as a precaution.

This is great news for the San Antonio Spurs is Kawhi Leonard is a huge contributor on this team.
