Leonard is still nursing a right eye infection that he suffered while on the European trip the Spurs made to play European teams, part of the NBA’s Global Games initiative.
There is some good news though. According to San Antonio Express-News writer Jeff McDonald, Kawhi Leonard did participate in practice for the second straight day.
Kawhi Leonard on the floor at end of practice, taking FTs with real, live teammates for 2nd straight day. Guess he’s not contagious anymore.

It would seem that the San Antonio Spurs are keeping out the 6-foot-7 forward just as a precaution. This is a very Spurs move as San Antonio is known for taking extra precautions with their players when it comes to injuries.
The San Antonio Spurs will miss Kawhi Leonard for the season opener though. Leonard is one of the games emerging stars at 23-years-old. The former San Diego State University star is also the team’s starting small forward.
The Spurs will seriously miss Leonard’s production against the Dallas Mavericks.
