The move puts the San Antonio Spurs roster at 15 players, the maximum allowable amount for an NBA team.

The news does not come as very surprising as the Spurs were already returning 14 out of 15 players from their championship roster. That number jumped to 15 after San Antonio drafted Kyle Anderson, essentially locking in the roster for the 2014-2015 NBA season.

JaMychal Green appeared in five preseason games for the Spurs, averaging 5.6 points and 2.8 rebounds on 75% shooting from the field.

Fuquan Edwin and Robert Vaden did not appear in any preseason games for San Antonio. The pair of players were just signed yesterday which is why they did not appear in any games for the Spurs.

The decision to sign these two, or any of the other players the Spurs have waived, might come as perplexing to San Antonio fans but actually makes more sense when you take a look at the official rules.

By signing these three players, and Bryce Cotton and Josh Davis (waived earlier this week), the Spurs gave themselves the rights to assign three of these players to San Antonio’s D-League affiliate the Austin Spurs.
