San Antonio Spurs vs Houston Rockets Preview

On Friday night, the San Antonio Spurs will take on the Houston Rockets at the Toyota Center. It will be the last preseason game for the two teams. The Spurs have struggled this preseason going 2-4 while the Rockets have been the complete opposite at 5-2. The Spurs struggles are mainly due to injury and players resting.

The Rockets are coming off a one point win against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday, while the San Antonio Spurs are coming off a 10 point loss against the Atlanta Hawks. Tony Parker has had a terrific preseason so far, as he has averaged 17.8 points and 5.2 assists. The Spurs will likely put together a lineup that will start the season, with Tiago Splitter and Kawhi Leonard potentially out to start the season. The Spurs started Parker, Tim Duncan, Boris Diaw, Marco Belinelli, and Danny Green.

The San Antonio Spurs have been playing rookie Kyle Anderson heavy minutes and he came off the bench against the Hawks. Anderson still played well despite coming off the bench on Wednesday, as he had 10 points in 18 minutes.

The Rockets on the other hand have played star center Dwight Howard in three preseason games and James Harden has played in five. Despite playing in five contests Harden hasn’t played more than 27 minutes in any of them. It will be interesting to see if both teams play every healthy player available, as the regular season begins on Tuesday. Expect a close contest as I expect both teams to have regular season rotations.
