Ryan Richards and BC Zepter Vienna Part Ways

By Jay Desai

Ryan Richards and his Austrian club BC Zepter Vienna have agreed to part ways to the team’s official website.

After the announcement by team General Manager Petar Stazic, BC Zepter Vienna’s head coach Andrea Maghelli give a statement about Ryan Richards:

I have decided to terminate the contract with players Ryan Richards for sporting differences. The team is at the center. Ryan is a basketball player with great potential, I wish him well for the future.

Maghelli’s statement seems to imply that Richards was more focused on himself rather than the team.

Ryan Richards averaged a team high 20.2 points and 6.8 rebounds on an impressive 66.7% shooting from the field during his five game stint with BC Zepter Vienna.

Richards has struggled to find himself a home during his basketball career, playing on nine teams since 2009.

Ryan Richards apparently also cannot seem to find an international basketball home, playing for Team Jamaica after quitting Team Britain.

The 7-foot-0 England native has long been noted as someone who is immature and struggles with the team concept making his latest move unsurprising.

Richards’ constant movement from team to team will not do the former 2010 second round draft pick well for his NBA chances, especially when considering the big man is not playing in one of the top teams overseas.

This latest issue with Richards will likely end up closing the door on his NBA career.

What do you think of Ryan Richards? With his gaudy statistics put up in the Austrian league, should a team overseas take a chance on the talented but immature big man? Let us know in the comments!
