With Cory Joseph’s Rap Tribute We Rank The Top 5 Music Videos Featuring NBA Players

By Ryan McCallum

With the release of a Toronto-based rapper C Black’s rap video in tribute to San Antonio reserve point guard Cory Joseph, we rank the top five music videos featuring NBA stars.

5. Magic Johnson in Michael Jackson’s “Remember the Time?”

Anytime you get Magic in a pharaoh costume you win. This time he wore it in a Michael Jackson video. Check out the video below!

4. Shaquille O’Neal in Fu-Shnickens’ “What’s Up Doc?”

In perhaps the most aggressive delivery of a Looney Tunes question, this video features puff vests, fake fighting on the basketball court, and Shaq in Sherlock Holmes style hat. Classic. Check out the video below!

3. Alonzo Mourning in Hootie and the Blowfish’s “I Only Wanna Be With You”

In this one, Zo plays it straight.  While blocking a Darius Rucker lay-up can’t be too hard for the NBA All Star, he does traps the ball in great form.  The vintage Charlotte Hornets gear is also a plus. Check out the video below!

2. Everyone in MC Hammer’s ‘Too Legit To Quit”

A 14:37 minute epic.

Isiah Thomas, Chris Mullin (furthering his street-cred) and David Robinson are all featured in this video which begins with James Brown bestowing magic powers to a young Hammer.  After that, if you can imagine, it all went downhill. Check it out below!

1. Michael Jordan in R. Kelly’s “I Believe I Can Fly”

In the background of this video is a constant loop of Space Jam, which features perhaps the NBA’s greatest player, Michael Jordan.  At 4:31 into the video we get a shot of Jordan, in a Baron’s baseball uniform, tipping his hat to the choir, reminding us to follow our dreams.  And then come back to the NBA and three-peat. Check out the video below!
