San Antonio Spurs Open Scrimmage Game Recap

By Jay Desai

The San Antonio Spurs held their annual open scrimmage yesterday evening at the AT&T Center in front of an estimated 6,500 fans. It was the first game back for the San Antonio Spurs in the AT&T Center, marking the beginning of the “Race for Seis.”

The team was split into two for the scrimmage as the Silver team faced off against the Black team. The quick game in front of the fans resulted in a 76-57 victory for the Silver team.

Danny Green was the high man in the game, scoring 26 points for the victorious Silver team. Kawhi Leonard also had a great game himself. The 2014 NBA Finals MVP finished the game with 16 points on 7-of-7 shooting for the Black team.

Training camp invite JaMychal Green also got into the mix, throwing down two alley-oops and buzzer beating three at the end of the game.

Matt Bonner and Danny Green both talked with media after the game. Those videos are available here (Bonner) and here (Green).

The game served as a little send off for the Spurs, who won’t be returning back to San Antonio until October 18th when they will face the reigning Eastern Conference Champions, the Miami Heat.
