Parker and Belinelli Leading Their Teams Into Eurobasket Second Round

San Antonio Spurs Tony Parker and Marco Belinelli are leading their teams strong into the second round of the Eurobasket tournament. Italy finished group play with a perfect 5-0 record while Parker and team France earned its fourth straight victory on Monday, as it concluded the first round of play.
Belinelli did not play in Italy’s three point win over Sweden. Spurs’ fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Belinelli not playing did not have anything to do with him being injured. The team gave him a day off. In the league, Belinelli is ranked 13th amongst scorers averaging just under sixteen (15.8 ppg) a game.
Belinelli and team Italy have been the surprise team of the tournament as many did not expect them to finish with an undefeated record, let a long, reach the second round.
Tony Parker and France were in a dog fight early against Belgium. They were trailing by 12 at the half before seeing it go to 15. Parker then took over the game as the defense grew stronger and Belgium could not muster up any buckets. France would win 82-65. Parker as he has been through-out his career was the leader of the team and his play sparked their huge run. He finished with 20 points and six assists. Boris Diaw finished with 12 and Nando De Colo seven.
Both Italy and France finish atop of their respected groups and are two of 12 teams to reach the second round. The top eight teams advancing will be involved in a single elimination tournament which will lead up to crowning a champion September 22nd.
