The Miami Heat are in talks with Mike Conley Sr. who represents Greg Oden, on his client playing for the Heat next season.  Oden had already entertained the New Orleans Pelicans and the Dallas Mavericks.

According to Fox Sports Florida’s Chris Tommasson, via twitter, that with Mike Miller being released today via amnesty, Conley stated that this could help the Heats’ case in acquiring Oden.

Greg Oden agent tells FOX Mike Miller let go could help Heat’s Oden quest. “I would think that from there end, it helps’’ said Mike Conley

Oden remains very interested in Heat but Conley wouldn’t go so far as to say are front runner. Others in mix include Spurs, Kings, Pelicans

Tommasson also tweeted that Conley has been texting Pat Riley back and forth as well as talking to the Heat’s cap expert as well.

Greg Oden agent has resumed dealings w/ Pat Riley “We’ve texted back and forth’’ Conley said “I’ve also talked to Andy (Elisburg, cap expert

Oden’s agent though is not going to count out the other teams that are interested in the big man, San Antonio Spurs and the Sacramento Kings.

With the Heat released Mike Miller, it cleared up $6 million on their cap.  Keeping Miller would of hurt them as he would of cost them $17 million after luxury taxes. The Heat have the $3.1 million taxpayer midlevel exception available, which could be an option for Oden.
