If you remember, Mike Monroe of the Express-News reported a couple weeks ago that Coach Popovich needed to talk with the doctors and Kawhi Leonard about his knee issues, to see if he would actually be able to play.

“I need to talk to Kawhi and the doctors about that before we make a decision,” Popovich said. “It’s obviously an honor to be involved with USA Basketball in any way, shape or form. Kawhi is thrilled by the selection, but we need to talk to the doctors to make sure he’s able to do it.”

Leonard only played 58 games this season while averaging 11.9 points and 6.0 rebounds a game for the Spurs, but didn’t let the knee bother him in the playoffs, where he elevated his game and averaged 13.5 points, 9.0 rebounds in 37 minutes a game.
