What!? Really!? I am not too sure I understand what Josh Smith was thinking when he made his decision to head to Detroit to play for the Pistons. I guess knowing the Pistons were really interested and pursuing you before free agency even started may have had something to do with it…….or maybe it is signing a four year deal which is said to be worth $56 million……yeah that is it.
The 6-foot-9, 225 pounder was in Atlanta for his entire NBA career and was one of the big names in the free agent market this offseason.
Smith averaged 17.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.8 blocks per game during the 2012-13 season, his ninth in the league. For his career, Smith is averaging 15.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.1 blocks.
The 27-year old Smith will be teaming up with Andre Drummond, Brandon Knight, Greg Monroe and rookie Kentavius Caldwell-Pope. It will be interesting to see how this team will come back as they try to make the playoffs after a disappointing 2012-2013 season.
