Report: Gary Neal Likely Won’t Be Back With Spurs

It’s unlikely the San Antonio Spurs will bring back reserve guard Gary Neal, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein, and with that they focused on reaching an agreement with free agent gunner Marco Belinelli on Thursday. Stein surmises that Neal is fielding offers from other teams that are out of the Spurs’ price range.
Neal as we all know is a restricted free agent, meaning San Antonio could match any offer sent his way. Remember, the Spurs did extend a qualifying offer to Neal for $1.1 million at the beginning of free agency.
An example of that came via a 24-point performance in Game 3 of the2013 NBA Finals, which included six three-pointers by the third-year point guard.
Neal averaged 9.5 points in the regular season and is a 40 percent three-point shooter over the course of his three-year career.
