We’re through 24 minutes in Memphis, with the Grizzlies leading the Spurs, 44-40.
Here’s the recap of the first quarter, straight from Gregg Popovich’s mouth:
The Spurs have managed to cut down the Grizzlies 16-point first quarter lead, thanks to Tony Parker’s 11 points. San Antonio is shooting 42% from the field and 44% from beyond the arch.
For Memphis, the trio of Pondexter, Allen and Gasol all have 8 points. The Grizzlies have turned 10 Spurs turnovers into 13 points.
Basically, both teams have been awful for 12 minutes and great for 12 minutes. As long as the Spurs continue getting to the free throw line and can manage to keep the turnovers down, they should be in good shape.
Go Spurs Go.
