Los Angeles Lakers fans are finally starting to see the Dwight Howard from his days in Orlando as he has starting playing the type of basketball that the Lakers were wanting, and it could not of come at a better time. In game one, Howard posted a great stat line, 20 points, 15 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.
With his play comes to much needed fuel for his team and possibly one that the Spurs will gladly take. Howard talked to reporters after game one and stated that he did not feel the San Antonio Spurs big men will wear down during the coming games.
“As the series goes on, those bigs will wear down from trying to fight for every possession,” Howard said. “We’ve just got to do a good job, myself and Pau, of not getting offensive fouls, not to try to fight back too much, but read the defense.”
Howard is right to a point. They do have to read the defense and take what is given to them. But to think that the bigs will wear down and wait for that to happen to take advantage maybe to late.
I have come to the conclusion that Howard has not seen the Spurs play much this season and see that Duncan is playing at a high level and looks as fresh as he has since his rookie season.
