This summer will be one busy one for the San Antonio Spurs.  For those of you that follow the team know that this summer marks the time when a couple of high priced contracts will be coming off of the books this year and in in general is that of Manu Ginobili.

Ginobili’s $14 million dollar contract expires at the end of this year and he has expressed that he does want to stay in San Antonio but it does come down to a couple of things, money and his health.  Ginobili was on The Jim Rome Show this past Monday (March, 5) where he did talk about his contract issues as well as other things.

On his contract, here is what he had to say:

“So as long as I’m healthy and I keep playing the way I know how to play I think that’s not going to be any problems and I’m not gonna be, it’s not gonna be a matter of money only so I just wanna be here. The quality of life is very important for me and my family and I’m really happy here.”

In listening to the show, another point that stuck out to me is when Ginobili stating that he hasn’t given his next contract much thought and that he and the Spurs agreed to wait until this summer to talk about it.  He also talks about the injury to Tony Parker, and how hard it will be without the leader of the team on the floor.
