Free agent Ronny Turiaf nearly picked the San Antonio Spurs this offseason.

According to a report unearthed by Project Spurs’ Jose Grijalva, Turiaf pondered the possibility of joining the Spurs. With French teammates in Tony Parker, Boris Diaw and Nando De Colo, the integration process wouldn’t be nearly as steep.

But Turiaf chose the Clippers, his sixth team in eighth seasons, because he wasn’t sure a finite role — one presumably on the bench — was available in San Antonio.

Turiaf is averaging 1.8 points and 2.4 rebounds in 11.2 minutes per game thus far.
