The San Antonio Spurs have assigned rookie guard Nando De Colo to the Austin Toros. Along with Cory Joseph, assigned to Austin yesterday, De Colo will bolster the defending NBA D-League champions backcourt which already includes MVP Justin Dentmon.
De Colo appeared in 13 games, including a start against Miami in which he posted career highs in points (16), rebounds (6) and assists (5). He averaged 2.5 points, 1.4 assists and 1.2 turnovers in 10.4 minutes per game.
In Austin, De Colo will need to limit turnovers, which became a problem in his first NBA stint. He finished with a turnover 29.8 percent of the time which led the team by a wide margin. Perimeter shooting also needs to be improved as De Colo made a measly 20 percent of his attempts outside the paint according to NBA.com/Stats.
