San Antonio Spurs second-round draft pick Marcus Denmon, having broken his right foot on Oct. 6 in the third quarter of French team Élan Chalon’s opener, will receive surgery according to the team website.

The surgery will reportedly prevent Denmon from re-injuring his foot. The procedure is preferable since the injury was too severe to be healed with time as originally believed. Denmon’s initial timetable was six weeks, meaning he may be healthy enough to play by mid-to-late November.

Prior to the injury, Denmon was the team’s leading scorer in the preseason, averaging 16.7 points.

Hat-tip to Jeff Garcia of Project Spurs.
