ASVEL Villeurbanne and Tony Parker will meet next week to discuss the ongoing arena dilemma, in a development that has not come to fruition.
The initial plan was to upgrade their current arena to accommodate upwards of 15,000 fans. The forthcoming arena hasn’t advanced past the primordial stages and Parker (Vice President of Basketball Operations for ASVEL) isn’t happy. Should the two sides not come to an agreement, Parker may decide to sever his affiliation with the organization.
“I have an appointment next week with shareholders (the club) and the Mayor of Lyon,” Parker told L’Equipe. “My priority is to make (the Project) in Lyon, ASVEL because I started the story there and I brought Peter Vincent, Laurent Foirest or others. But if they are, I would not be against other possibilities.”
Parker reiterated that he isn’t patient and he would be willing to find another European club willing to take the next step in their development rather than be content with mediocrity.
