Cory Joseph recently participated in a Canadian basketball camp with fellow NBA players Tristan Thompson, Joel Anthony, Robert Sacre, Andrew Nicholson and Kris Joseph after Canada announced Jay Triano as their head coach.
This is significant because any extra seasoning that Joseph garners during the offseason will likely be immensely beneficial in his preparation for the regular season.
The confidence and extra freedom he receives in the context of an international program, which is structurally different than the NBA game, creates an environment where mistakes aren’t detrimental to his career.
Unless Joseph develops rapidly this season, though, he will likely not be on the San Antonio Spurs final roster as the dearth of point guards will make it difficult for him to separate himself. But any extra exposure is good exposure, especially if that exposure augments his raw basketball ability.
