Mike Brown was really excited after the Los Angeles Lakers traded for Dwight Howard, solidifying their place among the NBA’s elite teams.

Like super excited — at least enough to nearly injure his hamstring.

Via Brian Kamenetzky of ESPNLosAngeles.com:

“I got a little excited,” Brown said. “I tried to     jump up and down, but my mind was telling     me to do something that my body wouldn’t     allow me to do. I almost pulled my hamstring sitting down. I don’t know if that’s ever happened to anybody,     but I was so excited that my leg tensed up. I almost tore my hamstring. So I got up slowly and gave him and     Jim Buss a hug.

“That might be the first hug they’ve gotten from their coach, ever, when it comes to a trade happening.”

If Brown is fortunate enough, he and Buss will share another hug after they win a NBA Championship. But even though they have Howard, there is nothing finite in sports.

Then maybe Brown will nearly pull his hamstring again, a result that wouldn’t be so bad if it ended with a championship.
