Update July 25 11:17 am: Elan Chalon and Denmon have officially come to terms on a deal per Catch and Shoot.

Here’s President Dominique Juillot on Denmon:

“My wish was always to keep as many players as possible involved in the extraordinary last season, but     this desire must be shared,” Julliot said. “But Malcolm Delaney did not seem to be in that mindset and I     wish him to a new environment …

This made us change course and seek a future of a player profile substantially identical, so I am very     pleased to welcome … Marcus Denmon (to) Chalon whose performance in summer league attracted the     envy of many European clubs and I am sure will be a major player in Pro A and Euroleague.”

July 23 6:12 pm: According to a report from the French website Catch & Shoot, Elan Chalon has expressed interest in Marcus Denmon, who was selected with the 59th pick in this years draft.

The report mentions that their interest is contingent on the potential whereabouts on Malcolm Delaney. Delaney averaged 15.1 points, 3.4 assists and three rebounds in 34 games last season for Chalon. He has reportedly been in contact with Siena. If Siena lures Delaney, they may make a harder push for Denmon.

Another potential obstacle, which makes this scenario highly unlikely, is that Denmon needs to make a conscious decision to forgo a NBA contract. Does he wish to go that route prior to one full professional season? This report doesn’t change much as I’d expect the Spurs to offer Denmon a rookie-scale contract and develop him further — most likely in Austin.
