In unrelated Dwight Howard news … the NBA has continued their methodical pillaging of the Spurs’ entire front office and coaching staff. Awesome.
This time the target was Spurs’ assistant coach Don Newman, with seven years of Gregg Popovich’s tutelage under his belt. Newman was apart of two championship teams (2005 and 2007) and five division titles (2005, 2006, 2009, 2011 and 2012) in his tenure. He, like every member of Pop’s coaching staff, has experienced tons of success.
Wizards head coach Randy Wittman believes Newman will be a “great addition.”
“Don is an outstanding coach and a great addition to our staff. He brings championship experience from his time with the Spurs and has been very successful in every stop of his career.”
In full: Newman brings 20 years of NBA experience to the Wizards staff in addition to 10 years of college basketball experience.
This is huge news guys. (Not really.)
