Deron Williams agreed to sign with the Brooklyn Nets via his Twitter account. The deal will be worth five-years, $100 million (AAV: $20 million) according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

His other suitors — namely Dallas — could only offer a max contract worth four-years, $75 million (AAV: $18.75 million). In the end, that discrepancy of money could’ve been the deal breaker.

Williams, 28, will return to Brooklyn with a bevy of new teammates. Gerald Wallace was inked to a new four-year, $40 million contract and Joe Johnson was added in a trade yesterday. Brooklyn may not have any cap space to speak of but, at the very least, they’ll be relevant this season. Judging by their strategy, it’s what they’ve wanted all along.
