Brazil clinched the Torneio Eletrobras Tournament in San Carlos with their seven point victory over Greece. Marcelo Magalhaes led Brazil with 22 points while NBA players Tiago Splitter and Anderson Varejao both added in nine points.
Brazil couldn’t quell Greece’s rally in the second quarter and Greece took a 39-36 lead at half. The tide turned in the third quarter when Brazil posted a 20 point quarter, giving them a three-point lead before the fourth quarter, a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.
Georgios Printezis led Greece with 15 points while newly drafted New York Knick Kostas Papanikolaou added in 11 points.
In a couple of weeks Brazil will square off with the United States on July 16 at the Verizon Center in a pre-Olympic tune up.
