The Miami Heat have been champions for less than 48 hours but that doesn’t mean we can’t start thinking about the next NBA season. It’s a fun exercise, albeit insignificant, to ponder the championship odds for the next season. A lot can happen in the coming weeks to alter the NBA landscape.

Regardless, here are the title odds for the following season. Unsurprisingly, Miami and Oklahoma City have the best chance with 5-2 odds, respectively. Chicago follows closely behind with 5-1 odds though the potential addition of Steve Nash or Jason Kidd might not be enough to offset Derrick Rose’s improbable recovery from his ACL injury.

As for the Spurs? Well, they have the fourth highest chance at 7-1.

    Miami, Oklahoma City – 5-1    Chicago – 5-1    San Antonio – 7-1    Lakers – 12-1    Dallas – 15-1    Boston, Indiana – 20-1    Clippers, Denver, Orlando, Memphis – 30-1    Atlanta, New York, Philadelphia – 60-1    Everyone else – 100-1

It’s not too late to put a lot of money on New Orleans …
