San Antonio Spurs small forward Kawhi Leonard was named to the 2011-12 NBA All-Rookie team, according to Andrew McNeill of 48 Minutes of Hell.
Leonard joins Kenneth Faried, Kyrie Irving, Brandon Knight, Iman Shumpert and Klay Thompson on the team which is voted by coaches. The first-team usually consists of five players but since Leonard tied with Knight and Shumpert with 40 points, they decided to keep the roster at six.
Leonard averaged 7.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 16.7 PER in 24 minutes per game. This is the Spurs’ second year with someone on the All-Rookie First Team after Gary Neal averaged 9.9 points while shooting 41.9% from behind the arc last year.
