Cory Joseph named D-League Performer of the Week

Austin Toros point guard Cory Joseph was named the Developmental League Player of the Week.
Joseph averaged 19 points, 9.3 assists and nine rebounds en route to a 3-0 week for the Toros. His performances were instrumental in the Toros victories over the Iowa Energy and the Maine Red Claws (2x). Their margin of victory was 26 points.
Joseph totaled a D-League season-high 25 points Wednesday against Iowa and followed that barrage of points with a triple-double (15 points, 17 rebounds, 12 assists) Friday against Maine. His worst game, by default, was a 17 point on 7-of-9 shooting, 10 assist, six rebound night Saturday against Maine.
Other notable performances include backup forward Luke Zeller — who doubles as Joseph’s pick-and-pop partner — who averaged 15.3 points and 7.0 rebounds. Newly minted Toro Eric Dawson poured in a double-double (18 points, 10 rebounds) on 8-of-13 shooting in 24:13.
At 29-16, the Toros are 4.5 games behind the Los Angeles D-Fenders in the Western Conference. The Toros next game is Friday, Mar. 20 at 8:30 EST against the Canton Charge.
