Failure to Launch

I’m sure most of you feel the same way I do about wins, and that is “a win is a win is a win”. Well, I’ve been thinking about the game against the Rockets from the closing horn on Saturday night up until about two minutes ago. I’ve come away with a few conflicting conclusions/ feelings about the outcome.
Thinking back to the Phoenix series last season, Game 3 in particular, the Spurs built a big lead only to have it stolen out from under them by the Nashties when Timmy and gang went cold and Dragic did the opposite. A similar sort of thing almost happened on Saturday, the Manu, Tony, RJ, et al nutted up and toughed the win out. Granted the ’10-’11 Rockets aren’t the ’09-’10 Suns, but then again neither are this year’s Suns. All-in-all, gutting out this win is a good thing and bodes well for the rest of the season.
Here’s the other feeling I have about the game, and this one is a little on the negative side. Go back and watch the Rockets’ final possession in OT. You know, the one where they had a chance to tie the game three got-damned times! That ish might fly with Ish Smith and the motley crew that Houston had out on the court, but it’s not gonna against the better teams in the league. So for my money, the Spurs were lucky to pull this one out.
Either way, I’ll take it.
