NBA Jam for the Wii

“BOOM Shakalaka!”
When I was in high school, the orginal NBA Jam was one of my favorite games in the arcade (My home turf by the way was the arcade at Westlakes Mall…whatever the heck it was called). I didn’t care that it cost more than just about every other came in the place or that most everyone else was busy with Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat; driving my player to the rim and then kicking out to my open team mate for the three was the bomb. As were the crazy spinning, twisting, high-flying dunks.
When I heard that NBA Jam for the Wii was coming out this Summer, I immediately asked my wife for it. I assumed that she would forget about it or give it to me for Christmas or something. Well, she did neither of those things, but instead pre-ordered it for my Birthday, so when it finally arrived last week, I was pretty frickin’ happy.
The look and feel of the game is exactly as I remember it, but with updated players and controls. I still need to work on using the Wii-mote to get my guy to do what I want him to, but I’m gonna get there. When I do, there will be no stopping me! I give this game a 4.8 out of 5.
