Monday was media day for the San Antonio Spurs and to us that means the season is drawing near.  Tim Duncan says that going into his 14th season in the NBA that he feels to be in the best shape that  he has ever been.

With the signing of Spanish MVP Tiago Splitter this could help Coach Gregg Popovich in the number of regular season games that Duncan plays in this year.  Last season Duncan played 78 of 82 regular season games, though he played just 31.3 minutes per game, that would be his lowest of his career.

“That was the plan last year, but we got ourselves in a bad way for a stretch and couldn’t make that work,” Duncan said. “Obviously, I want to be on the floor every minute there is, but that’s not what’s best for us and not what’s best for me. If we work it out to the point where we’re playing well and going in the right direction, and that works best for us, we’ll do that.”
