Round 1, Game 6 :: Mavs at Spurs :: Full Recap

The San Antonio Spurs came out and did what they needed to do. That was to not let the Mavericks get off to the start they did during Game Five in Dallas. Dallas took control of that game and well you guys know how that ended up.
We started off on fire, we held the Mavericks to 8 points, just 8 points in the first quarter as we were sitting comfortably with a 22 to 8 lead after one.
But we all know that this is a four quarter game and things got a little shaky.
Rookie Rodrigue Beaubois scored 10 points in the second quarter to help cut the Spurs lead down. San Antonio would still take a 13 point lead into the half. In the second half the Mavericks put the heat on the Spurs again. They took a lead in the third quarter.
George Hill, who scored just 4 points in the first half, made an even bigger name for himself than Beaubois had tried to, in the fourth quarter when we needed it. Hill would hit four shots and score 10 points in the quarter to help the Spurs hold off the Mavericks for a 97-87 series clinching victory at AT&T Center.
Hill and Ginobili were the stars of the game combining for 47. Duncan finished with 17 and 10 rebounds.
For the losing Mavericks, NOwitzki and Butler combined four 58 of the teams 87 points.
Project Spurs had some good “Stats of the Game” and they nailed it right on the head.
87 – The Spurs won every game in this series when the Mavericks scored less than 100 points.
40 – The Spurs dominated the post, outscoring the Mavs 40-32 inside the paint.
31 – The Spurs had a 31-15 advantage in free throw attempts for the game but only converted 19 including 1-7 from Tim Duncan . Translation: they need to work hard on their foul shots as they go deeper into the playoffs.
26 – Manu Ginobili scored 26 points in this game clincher after scoring just 7 points in game five.
17 – Tim Duncan scored 17 points on 17 shots from the field and the Spurs outscored the Mavs on the fastbreak 17-10.
7 – Matt Bonner grabbed 7 boards and scored 4 points in just 12 minutes, Tony Parker had 7 rebounds and 8 assist, Richard Jefferson only scored 7 points in 31 minutes of action and Keith Bogans went scoreless in 7 minutes.
0 – Antonio McDyess scored 8 points with 6 rebounds and one block without committing a single turnover in 25 minutes of playing time.
So, who is next? Glad you asked. A familiar phoe in the Phoenix Suns. As many know we got some history with this team. Do you remember the last time we met up with them in the playoffs? Yeah, Nash was introduced into the scorer’s table.
That series is scheduled to start May 3rd at 9:30 PM CST.
