A great win for the Spurs was overshadowed by the loss of starting point guard Tony Parker to a broken hand.  Parker, the teams 2nd leading scorer will miss around six weeks of action after breaking the hand in the 1st quarter.

The Spurs managed to win the game 102-92, led by Richard Jefferson’s 18 points.  Five other players scored in double figures and the Spurs bench combined to outscore the Grizzlies bench 64-15.

OJ Mayo scored 23 points and Marc Gasol added 17 points and 13 rebounds for Memphis.  It was not enough, however, as the Grizzlies have lost 8 straight home games.

The Spurs have won 5 of their last 6 games against above .500 teams and are now a season high 12 games over .500 at 36-24.

Their toughest games are ahead though as without Tony Parker, more will be expected of Roger Mason Jr., George Hill and even Malik Hairston.  The schedule gives the team a little break because after the Cleveland game on Monday, the Spurs get the Knicks, Timberwolves and Clippers.  It’ll be important for the team to get into a groove during these games and make a final push to get a better playoff seed.
