Spurs Historical Clip: 1983 playoffs

Starting with the ABA in the 1970’s, the San Antonio Spurs have a long history of success in basketball. While it took until 1999 for them to make the NBA Finals, the team was a success long before then. This included being one of a few teams to play in both the Eastern Conference (1978-79) and Western Conference (1981-82, 1982-83, 1994-95) Finals. For trivia purposes, Chicago, Detroit, Milwaukee, Washington, Houston and Golden State (the made the East Division Finals as the Philadelphia Warriors) are the only other teams to have done this. The Spurs also won 9 division titles in the years before their first NBA Finals appearance.
The 1983 team was led by George Gervin and Johnny Moore and finished 53-29 on the season, 8 games ahead of the Kansas City (now Sacramento) Kings. This clip shows highlights from a successful playoff series against the Denver Nuggets.
