I differ by believing that Coach of the Year does rely on expectations, partially, and if you can exceed those expectations then that has to mean something.

Also, Tom Thibodeau has done an amazing job with his team but the Eastern Conference is also a lot weaker. Put the Bulls in the Western Conference and they would not be able to crack the 50 win plateau without Derrick Rose for the majority of the season.

Coach Pop reached 50-wins in the superior conference and, although the depth he amassed helped, Popovich certainly was the driving force in developing confidence in his younger players. Do you think Danny Green, Kawhi Leonard and Tiago Splitter would’ve progressed this quickly without Coach Pop’s trust?
